Any believer at any time can question his or her salvation. There are outside forces that influence and disrupt a believer’s faith. Isolation and hurt can at times shake a believer into asking themselves “am I truly saved?” The apostle Paul spoke to the church in Galatia. They were experiencing outside forces and those who infiltrated their church. These people were trying to convince them that their salvation required additional measures.
However we read of Paul’s urgency and concern for the Galatians to know that faith in Jesus Christ alone was the greatest importance. The Galatians were being misled. We too at times can be wrongly influenced or misled by others or outside forces and therefore it is important that we have an assurance of our salvation.
In this message we hear about three characteristics of assurance of salvation for believers. The importance of course of this assurance is not simply peace of mind and heart. The importance of our salvation is spiritual maturity in faith in Christ, so that we as God’s children can work for his purposes and glory.
Here are three characteristics of assurance of salvation:
- Assurance of salvation does not seek works
- Assurance of salvation is evident in a believer’s life
- Assurance of salvation results in spiritual maturity
